The Sonnet Hosting website, like all of the main company websites, has been coded to Triple-A (AAA) accessibility standards using valid standards compliant XHTML and CSS. The look (structure and style) of the website is completely separate from the content.

Why is that important?

By using clean, standards compliant code in our designs, we gain several advantages.

Improved accessibility for all

By completely separating the structure and style of our websites from our content, we make them far more accessible than the previous versions.

This doesn't just mean they are easier to use for people with disabilities, particularly those that use screen readers, it also means that people using devices such as PDAs and Smartphones to browse the web run into far fewer problems.

Our websites are now far more accessible to the widest possible audience we can reach, which is a very good thing.

Preparing for the future

We have always used standards compliant code in our work, we're quite fussy about that in fact.

But by ensuring these latest versions are fully compliant and that they reach the highest possible accessibility standards, we have made our job a lot easier for future updates.

Not only is good clean code quicker and easier to update, it also means we are more than prepared for new versions of web browsers that will be released.

And if we ever want to give the sites a new look without altering the content at all, we can, quickly and easily.

Search engines love us!

Search engines are probably the biggest disabled user on the internet. They are essentially blind, and love websites that are easy to navigate through and index. If a website is badly coded, search engine spiders may never reach certain areas of it, and that means people will not see that area of your website in their searches.

We've made sure there are no dead ends on our websites. By making our content more accessible to them, just as we do to people, they have a much easier task when indexing our websites and are able to generate much more accurate results, and that shows in our results.
