Our UK servers are housed in a state of the art suite in the Global Switch London 1 data centre. Global Switch is located in East India Dock at the heart of London's Docklands, in a prime position to the LINX (London Internet Exchange) peering exchange and Telehouse gateway locations. The building is physically located 30 seconds walk from Telehouse North and Telehouse East which house the LINX.
Global Switch provides unsurpassed levels of security along with physical measures to protect the safety and reliability of services, coupled with high tech fire supression systems, based upon Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms to sense heat and smoke before it can even be smelled.
Accessibility and reliability is key throughout, with raised floring, scalable power expansion, and of course the facility is staffed by experienced technicians 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Key network features include:
Because speed and response times are crucially important all the network hardware is of the highest quality, using the best manufacturers in each field. The core network is primarily Cisco powered.
The suite housing our servers operates a 100% BGP multi-homed network, taking transit feeds from multiple providers to ensure quality and reliability.
The main transit providers have Points of Presence in all major European destinations, providing excellent connectivity to Europe and beyond. Respected, reliable and diverse providers have been chosen to ensure the suite has multiple routes to all global locations whilst still making use of the best path possible via peering agreements.
To provide the best service to all locations, the suite's transit and peering transit is provided by some of the UK's leading Internet Service Providers, proven in their field. This gives us access to peering routes between over 70 of the world's leading business, consumer and carrier providers.
Some of the UK ISPs on this list include BT, the BBC, BlueYonder (Telewest), Demon Internet, NTL, Nildram and Pipex, plus global names such as XO Communications, Energis, AT&T, Microsoft and Verio.
In the unlikely event of a problem occurring, traffic can easily be re-routed around the issue with no adverse effects.
